1. Opening Event

    flyer

The sudden lack of newly-posted digital shots has been due to me scanning and editing the film shots! Finally they are printed and will arrive tomorrow. The show will be up for the whole month of August.

The opening party for the show is on First Friday, August 6th from 5-9pm. Come come

This flyer is your only sneak peak of the prints in the show!

  2. Favorite Place - Alex

    Alex 1 - 4

    Alex 4 - 4

    Alex 3 - 4

    Alex 2 - 4

Alex built a shrine of nicknacks for her photo. She chose to be photographed in her live/work space, which is interestingly located in what used to be a Sunshine Biscuits cracker factory.

The show will be up for the month of August, Farley’s East @ 33 Grand ave in Oakland. The opening party with be Friday August 6th. The deadline is nigh, and I’ll try to keep updating until then!

  3. Favorite Place - Sarah

    Sarah 1 - 4

    Sarah 2 - 4

    Sarah 3 - 4

    Sarah 4 - 4

This set features the elfin Sarah at the Berkeley campus, along with her favorite thing: books! We found these beautiful books at the campus main library. Sarah is majoring in comparative literature and can read Arabic! The results from this set have been some of my favorites so far.

The show will be up for the month of August, Farley’s East @ 33 Grand ave in Oakland. Keep following my posts, more and more will be coming until my deadline at the end of the month!

  4. Cat

The fat cat on the mat
    may seem to dream
    of nice mice that suffice
    for him, or cream;
    but he free, maybe,
    walks in thought
    unbowed, proud, where loud
    roared and fought
    his kin, lean and slim,
    or deep in den
in the East feasted on beasts
    and tender men.
    The giant lion with iron
    claw in paw,
    and huge ruthless tooth
    in gory jaw;
    the pard dark-starred,
    fleet upon feet,
    that oft soft from aloft
    leaps on his meat
    where woods loom and gloom—
    far now they be,
    fierce and free,
    and tamed is he;
but the fat cat on the mat
    kept as a pet,
    he does not forget.

  5. Favorite Place - Rozlyn

    Rozlyn 1

More faces, more favorite places. Rozlyn chose to do pin-up style shots at the Fairyland sign by Lake Merritt. Hair and Makeup by Betty Oram.

This shoot took place in waning 7:30pm and later light, after I had just rushed to finish work and was far too distracted and tired. I thought “this should be easy enough”, and in the end rushed through and didn’t take the time and attention it needed. I hope that both Rozlyn and Betty are up for a re-shoot when the sun and my energy levels are higher.

The show will be up for the month of August, Farley’s East @ 33 Grand ave in Oakland. Keep following my posts, more and more will be coming until my deadline at the end of the month!

PS- I picked up the developed rolls of film from the first two shoots and they look great! I’m getting excited…

  6. Favorite Place - Andres

    Andres - Ping Pong

    Andres - Shiva

    Andres - Kitchen

More digital shots from my “Favorite Place” project. As stated before, I’m taking portraits of my coworkers for the Farley’s East employee art show. The theme is the subject in his or her favorite location. I’m not 100% happy with the way the portraits of Andres came out, so I will be trying a redo at some point. At any rate, this is Andres’ home: his dog, beloved ping pong table, and kitchen.

The show will be up for the month of August, Farley’s East @ 33 Grand ave in Oakland.

  7. Favorite Place - AJ

    AJ 1 - 3

    AJ 2 - 3

More digital shots from my “Favorite Place” project. As stated before, I’m taking portraits of my coworkers for the Farley’s East employee art show. The theme is the subject in his or her favorite location. This is from the third shoot so far, and features AJ on the bus.

This shoot was a trial of both patience and timing. I mentally prepared for it to be tedious due to having to wait for stops to take the photos, but I was entirely unprepared for the light. It was harshly contrasted and changed by the second as the sun dipped behind trees and buildings. Although I can’t say I’m thrilled with the result, I am happy that I was able to use what was given to me, difficult or no: the sunlight is a primary feature of both shots I’ve chosen so far.

The show will be up for the month of August, Farley’s East @ 33 Grand ave in Oakland.

  8. Favorite Place - Mario

    Mario 1 - 3

    Mario 2 - 2

These are the digital “test shots” from a project I’m doing for the employee art show next month at my work. The theme is “Favorite Place”, and I’m taking portraits of many of my coworkers in their favorite locations in Oakland and nearby. This first set features Mario and his room.

The show will be for the month of August, at Farley’s East, 33 Grand ave in Oakland.

I’ll be posting more sets as I progress through the project.
